Whoops-A-Daisy-Angel

The nursery nativity of Whoops-A-Daisy-Angel was a huge success this year. All children looked wonderful in their costumes and performed really well. Thank you to all our parents for providing the costumes for the children and may we take this opportunity to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a fun filled festive season. Please remember nursery closes at 1.00pm prompt on Monday 24th December and re-opens again on Wednesday 2nd January 2013. There is no charge during the Christmas closure period.

Christmas Lunch

Children who attend nursery for lunch on Friday's will be tucking into St Marys Christmas Dinner on Friday 21st December, lovingly prepared by our own nursery cook Dawn. Watch out on the parents notice board for the Christmas Menu for that day.

Discoverers Party - Traditional Christmas dress - w/c 17th December

All children will be invited to their Christmas party, regardless of whether they attend nursery on that day or not. Invitations will be sent out to children. Each room will be displaying a party list asking parents to contribute to the parties choosing a item to bring in.

We are currently looking to recruit a Father Christmas to appear at our Explorers and Inventors Christmas parties, if we have any Dad's or Grandad's out there up for the role then please let Amanda know in the office.

Whoops - A - Daisy - Angel

Tickets are now on sale for the Inventors Christmas performance of Whoops-A-Daisy-Angel. The performance will take place in St Marys College dance theatre at 10.00am and 2.00pm on Wednesday 12th December. Tickets can be purchased from the office for 50 pence each, everyone is welcome to come along and watch.

Nursery Photos

Nursery photos have now arrived from Rose and Sons, please collect your photos from the office.Photos can be viewed before purchase. Photos are available as a Rosey Pictures Package for £26.50, a large photo can then be purchased for £15.50 or on it's own for £27.00. Photos must be paid for and collected by 7th December, any photos still at nursery by then will be returned to the photographer, thank you. Cheques need to be made out to Rose & Sons LTD.

November Colour Day

November colour day is Orange. Please dress your child in as much orange as possible on Friday 30th November.

Don’t forget your Toffee Apple Decorating entries for Monday 5th November (Inventor Children who attend a Monday session). A prize will be awarded for the best and most creative toffee apple.
Can all Inventor Children now vote for their favourite pudding which will be made, by the children, for Get Pudding Day (Friday 9th November) as part of our topic on National School Meals Week.
Spooky Fun Day

Wednesday the 31st of October the children at St Marys will be having a spooky fun day with lots of gooey fun activities based around Halloween, please dress your children in Halloween Fancy Dress and there will be a price awarded in each room for the best Halloween character.

Friday 26th October, Please dress your child in as many black clothes as possible. A certificate will be awarded in each room.

National School Meals Week



Amanda has been asked by the Local Authorities Catering Association (LACA) to be an Ambassador and promote National School Meals Week. The Nursery will be taking part in a week’s worth of activities during the week of the 5th November. Activities are all based around this year’s themes, Get Traditional, Get Celebrating, Get Exploring, Get Eating and Get Pudding. We are very excited to join in with such a great campaign to educate our children on healthy food choices for a healthier future. Warburtons Visit Sept 2012

Warburtons visited the nursery 25th and 27th Sept and the Inventor children and some of the Explorers donned their aprons and hair nets and each made their very own hedgehog loaf. They learnt all about hygiene and how bread is made. The Inventors also carried out a week of activities to support the Warburtons visit exploring making their own flavours of bread, including coffee, banana, chocolate and lemon, reading and learning about The Little Red Hen, bread tasting and a variety of other activities.

SUNSMART POLICY

It is that time of year again when the sun can cause skin damage and discomfort. Please take care, use suncream and encourage your children to always wear a sun hat when playing outdoors.

The children accessing free flexible entitlement will finish nursery on friday 1st June and return on Monday 11 th June.

The 'Graduation' photos of the children will be arriving soon, keep a lookout for notices displayed around the nursery.

A Photographer will be coming into nursery on Wednesday 27th June to take photos of all children. If you would like a family photo please book a slot with Amanda or Tracy

Nursery Garden

The children in the nursery have been preparing the nursery garden for the planting season. Some vegatables have been planted, and we are looking forward to preparing cooking and easting our home grown produce.

St Georges Day Celebrations

23rd April 2012 the nursery celebrated St Georges Day. The practitioners retold the story of George and the Dragon to the children. The children used props and fancy dress to act out the tale. Other activities included making junk model dragons, working together to produce a large England flag, croquet out on the 'lawn'. For lunch a traditional English meal was served - Fish and Chips. Amanda sold the food from her 'Fish and Chip Emporium' the children paid with play money and sampled different condements.

Teddy Bears Picnic

St Mary's Nursery is teaming up with St Mary's College Performing Arts students to raise money for Derian House. The nursery will hold a week of activities around the theme of Teddy Bears Picnic which children can get involved with. The week will end with a large picnic on the field on Friday 20th April for children in the nursery on a Friday. Children will also be asked to make a donation of £2.00 to Derian House and bring their teddy along.


Nursery Library Club

St Marys Nursery will be offering a Library Club starting after the Easter Holidays for all three year olds. To promote the enjoyment of books, children will be able to borrow books from the nursery.

They will receive their own library pack complete with record book to draw and write about their stories, log sheet to record the books they have borrowed and a personalised book mark. The children will be able to choose one book at a time and must borrow and swap their books from the office with Amanda.
