"Observes the effect of activity on their bodies" EYFS
The children took part in an activity this week which asked the children to think about their heart and how exercise effects this. The children were asked to feel their own heart beating... They then ran around the outdoor play area and then felt thier own heart again. Some of the children made comments such as... "It's pumping " ,"It's like a drum" ,"I can feel mine now, I need a rest"

We looked at pictures of the heart and Sarah explained the important job that our hearts do...
We then had a go at making a representation of the heart ... this was a fun experiment to help explain that the heart pumps the blood around the body. The balloon (Heart) was filled with red water (blood) and a clear straw was inserted  (vein). The children then 'pumped the heart' and observed what happened next.....
As you can see, this was so much fun!!!!

Mr Tumble Day - Exploring Winter Vegetables...

This week the children have been exploring healthy winter vegetables... We had a selection delivered from Sally our local green grocer who provides all the fruit and vegetables to the nursery. Sally brought us a lovely selection of carrots, leeks, celeriac, swede, butternut squash, fresh beetroot, sweet potato. The children had an opportunity to touch the veg, use some for painting, use in the home corner and even have a little taste...
